Timeless Trowel

Historic Building Conservation

We are Timeless Trowel & we specialise in the use of lime based materials. Whether that be for Lime Plastering, Lime Pointing, Lime Crete (SubLime) Floors, Rendering, Lime Insulation or simply Stone Masonry with Lime as your mortar. Either way we are an Award Finalist (hopefully soon to be winner) of a Welsh national competition who have all of these capabilities, skill and knowledge to carry out your Renovation, Restoration or Conservation needs. Our staff comprises trades such as Stone Masonry, Joinery & of course our trade mark Lime Plasterers.

We protect, restore & conserve pre 1919 built homes & buildings, this simple means buildings of solid wall construction. solid wall buildings were built with the use of lime to create a vapour permeable (breathable) design, Once a non-permeable material such as Cement has been applied to a solid wall structure the ‘breathability’ of the it is INSTANTLY stopped. Because this process has ceased any build-up of moisture is trapped, this later presents itself as Damp amongst other problems.

Please read through our ‘Lime & Your Home‘ section for more information on this subject.

Timeless Trowel owner & operator Damian A. Williams has been trained to the highest plastering qualification including NVQ 3 in Heritage Skills – Lime Plastering which was gained by being a Tywi Heritage Centre Craftsman. This qualification also allows Damian to be the holder of a Gold CSCS Card – Advanced Craft. Damian has gone on to be a published contributor to The Building Limes Forum newsletter which he is also a member of.

As well as being an apprentice with the highly regarded Cliff Blundell, the author of ‘Precious Inheritance’ & ‘Sustainable Legacy’, Damian has also worked with Nigel & Joyce Gervis of Ty Mawr Lime Ltd. Ty Mawr Lime Ltd is arguably one of the biggest lime distribution companies in the UK. From this experience, we at Timeless Trowel are able to approach a building and decide after inspection what type of approach the house needs rather than a blanket rule approach which unfortunately is far too common practice among construction companies.

We have also been involved in a series of ‘How To?’ videos, please feel free to check them out on the link below.
